In my previous blog, I began discussing the characteristics of visionary leaders, based off of The Dream Achievers Academy’s “Seven Signs of Visionary Leaders” (check it out here). I addressed the first two traits, which are Imagination and Big-Picture Thinking. Being a visionary leader can greatly impact your career, in a very positive way. If you’re a visionary, you can often build something great against opposition, just like these people. Visionaries are known for understanding what they want and having their goals constantly at the forefront of their mind, but that does not mean someone is closed-minded if they’re a visionary leader; visionary leaders are actually incredibly open-minded. It’s important to be willing to listen to other people’s input and evaluate their ideas, because it can help visionary leaders achieve their goals so much more easily.
What’s great about a visionary leader is that they’ll be upfront about what they want, so everyone has a clear idea of the ultimate goal. Dream Achievers Academy states that “[visionary leaders] do not limit themselves to their own thoughts and ideas,” which means that once they make their goals clear, they’re open to others’ ideas that can help reach those goals. Visionary leaders encourage those around them to share their ideas, so no one’s advice goes unheard. This type of collaboration and open-mindedness is incredibly beneficial in the business world, because it allows lots of ideas to circulate and be utilized.
Possessing focus means that a visionary leader gets done what they need to do, when they need to do it. Having acute focus also means that visionary leaders are completely present in what they’re doing. It allows them to have a strong presence, which people notice. Strong focus and a commanding presence lead to power, which helps visionary leaders succeed in the fields they pursue.
The strong focus and presence of visionary leaders draws other people to them and allows them to succeed in what they’re doing. People enjoy feeling as though they have someone’s attention during a conversation, which visionaries are great at doing. Specifically, focus is important in the business world, where it’s fast-paced and competitive; people need to carry themselves well and be able to focus on the important aspects of their jobs when working in this field.
